Project: Avurt iM5

Avurt iM5

The Avurt IM-5 launcher is a NON-LETHAL self-defense device redefining personal security. About the size of a flashlight, the small device conveniently fits in a purse, holster or backpack for average citizens and security personnel. The laser sighted launcher fires pellets filled with PAVA (Pelargonic Acid Vanillylamide) powder at distances of up to 40 feet, burning the eyes, nose and throat of the target. The device protects from greater distances than conventional pepper spray and stun guns without the lethal potential presented by conventional firearms and stun guns. The Avurt IM-5 launcher uses technology that has never been associated with a death.

Designed by Syncroness, the Avurt IM-5 uses the same effective pepper substance found in aerosol based weapons, but has the advantage of a 40 foot range (ten feet further than Tasers), meaning that there is no need to be in close proximity to potential assailants when the device is used in self-defense. The device can fire five rounds of PAVA filled pellets, and if the PAVA is not effective in stopping an assailant the sting of the plastic shells act as a secondary deterrent. When not in use, the handle pivots into a compact "Safe mode" preventing without risk of discharge, and preventing possible barrel obstructions. When unfolded, the unit becomes "Live" and the red laser light used for aiming the IM-5 is activated. The laser along with the loud bang produced (by nitrogen cartridges) when firing act as additional deterrents.
